Mazda invited outdoor enthusiasts to experience the CX-50 first-hand in rugged mountain landscapes while sharing their perspective of what it means “to feel more human in nature.”
The key to unlocking nature’s benefits is remembering that expertise is not a prerequisite to enjoying time outdoors. “Any chance that you get to be in nature—whether it’s a walk around the block or a longer adventure deep in the wilderness—should be cherished and celebrated,” said Aspen, Colorado snowboarder and adventurer, Arielle Shipe. "I think people get caught up in thinking their nature experience isn’t good enough, which couldn’t be further from the truth. Every experience spent outdoors is valuable.”

FINDING REJUVENATION IN THE OUTDOORS
Winter recreation invites us into the mountains to energize ourselves amid the season’s ever-changing conditions and dynamic beauty. That’s why we unveiled our most capable outdoor vehicle, the 2023 Mazda CX-50, at a selection of winter resorts.
Grand Targhee, Wyoming
Located in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, this area is known for deep powder, incredible views and terrain options for adventurers of all abilities.
Arapahoe Basin, Colorado
Legendary for its advanced terrain, this region is also known for its extended season—often offering a deep snowpack through June.
Snow Summit, Big Bear, California
Offering 31 trails, this Southern California resort is known for making the best of winter sports available to riders of all skill levels typically in sunny conditions.
Snoqualmie, Washington
Known for offering the most night skiing in the United States, the mountain also boasts nearly 2,000 skiable acres.
Crystal Mountain, Washington
Located in the Cascade Range, this world-class terrain makes up the largest ski resort in the state with 2,600 acres and over 50 unique runs.
Powder Mountain, Utah
With 8,000 acres of skiable terrain just an hour outside of Salt Lake City, this mountain offers an incredible mix of traditional lift access and backcountry opportunities.

To support the passions of these outdoor enthusiasts, a crew of photographers were on site to join visitors on the slopes—providing them with professional photographs of their on-hill activities free of charge.
BACKCOUNTRY BASECAMP
To help people truly immerse themselves in nature, we partnered with Backcountry magazine. Accredited guides led free ski and gear demos, avalanche beacon safety drills and introductory out-of-area tours. Because the CX-50 is designed to help adventurers explore and experience nature, this joint effort sought to help winter enthusiasts safely learn more about skiing in unmarked and unpatrolled areas.
